The wine is stainless fermented and aged 1 year in large 65hL Slavonian casks. Ample sticky and blocky tannins frame ripe cherry, sarsaparilla, and perfumed raspberry across the medium bodied palate. It is aged in for 12 months in 65 hl Slavonian oak casks. The alcohol is a modest 13 percent. It is the flagship wine of the Poggio al Tufo project, the first wine the Tommasi family made in the Maremma. Bistecca Fiorentina or a mushroom wild boar dish would be a good match. Good value."

It has sweet expressive fruit to mimic the nose and a plush character; it is concentrated, the texture is slick. A wonderfully satisfying red trailing chocolate and coffee flavours."
