"Fine meaty accents with a smoky edge to the black cherries, crushed blueberries, chaparral and dried flowers. Fresh and medium- to full-bodied on the palate with fine-grained tannins that confer verticality to the center palate. Juicy finish to close. Drink now or hold."

"Brooding nose with plenty of blackberries and dark cherries. Garrigues, violets and wild herbs. Juicy and broad on the full-bodied palate with fleshy black fruit and tight, structured tannins. Juicy and spicy in the finish. Drink or hold."

"The 2021 T.H. Syrah Cauquenes was cropped from one of the coolest and healthiest vintages of recent years in Maule, a year of fresh, expressive and balanced wines. It matured in French oak barrels, 20% of them new, for 14 months, and the resulting wine is powerful and ripe at 14.1% alcohol but serious and less expressive than the one from Leyda that I tasted next to it. There are notes of ripe black fruit, spice and an earthy touch, and it's a more austere and mineral expression of the grape. It's Mediterranean and medium to full-bodied, with abundant, slightly dusty tannins. 26,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2022."

"The 2021 Syrah T.H. from Cauquenes, Maule, was aged for 12 months in 20% new French oak barrels. A rich purple color. The ripe nose presents blackberry jam notes and garrigue-like aromas, with hints of flesh and pepper. Finely grained, reactive tannins sculpt the voluminous palate into a concentrated core. An intense, flavorful red."

"Peppery nose with aromas of spicy oak and deep black fruit. Fleshy palate, with a dry finish."

"Quite a floral nose with lots of lavender and wild herbs that adds exotic perfume to the black cherries and Mediterranean spices. This is elegant and sleek with very refined, precise tannins and a juicy, bright feel to the fruit. Delicious now, but can hold."

"Cauquenes is one of the warmer sites in which to grow Syrah in Chile, with none of the cool climate freshness of Leyda, but Rafa Urrejola has worked his magic here, picking early to retain some zip and focus. Tobacco and wild herb notes are underpinned by savoury tannins, a hint of meaty reduction and concentrated damson fruit. 2023-30"

#36 TOP 100 WINES OF CHILE 2019. "This has attractive, fresh and spicy aromas with herbs and leaves, arranged in a slew of ripe red berries and plums. The palate has a plush and succulent array of fine, sheet-like tannins. Great depth and balance. Drink or hold."
