Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Nov/2021

2020 -

"The young and unoaked 2020 Honoro Vera Garnacha was produced with grapes from vines averaging 40 years of age and matured in oak barrels for a couple of months, as they want to keep the young profile and the intensity of fruit without makeup. It's juicy, with varietal notes of wild berries, flowers and herbs and a mellow palate with very soft tannins and mellow acidity." "Ateca is the winery in Calatayud from the Gil family from Jumilla. They have around 100 hectares of vineyards there, mostly on slate soils and some as high as 900 meters in altitude. The wines are powerful, ripe and generously oaked. They produce close to one million bottles."

2019 -

"Brilliant violet. Aromas of candied red and dark berries, incense and smoky minerals are complemented by a building floral nuance. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering lively boysenberry, cherry and spicecake flavors and a hint of candied lavender. Finishes sweet and youthfully tannic, displaying strong, spice- and mineral-driven persistence. Fermented in small stainless steel tanks and aged in small used French oak barrels."

Wine Spectator, Jun/2021

"Round and fresh, this red offers cocoa, blackberry and smoke notes, supported by moderate, supple tannins. Details of wild herb, currant and cola continue along the finish. Drink now."

Daenna Van Mulligen, Winescores.ca, Dec/2018

2016 -

"Supple generous, delicious. Adorned in yet another Gil Family Estate's stunning labels, this Garnacha is strawberry jam, violets, sarsaparilla, espresso and baking spices. Equally plush on the palate it has an impressive generosity; mocha, purple fruits, vanilla liqueur and licorice. Supple yet fresh and undeniably delicious."
