Chateau Brande-Bergere

Bordeaux, France

Chateau Brand Bergère is a small family-owned estate extending north of Saint-Emilion on one of the highest points of the Gironde, with views extending 40 km over the Dronne Valley. Grapes have been cultivated here since the 18th Century. In the 19th century the winery was given the AOC “Nord Saint Emilion”. The estate was acquired in 1997 by Edith & Denis Dalibot who carried out a complete renovation of the vineyard and the winery. They have worked passionately to improve the quality of the wine produced on this exceptional terroir, ever respectful of old Bordeaux traditions.

State-of-the-art wine growing techniques are used in the vineyard and fully implemented by hand: grass-cover between vines (enherbement), trimming of excessive new shoots (épamprage), trimming of secondary shoots (échardage), trimming of leaves (effeuillage), green harvest, manual harvest, and sustainable agriculture. Applied to this exceptional terroir, they help create powerful, yet elegant wines, with intense aromas and a generous bouquet. Vinification takes place in small concrete tanks, as in many of the most prestigious cellars of Bordeaux, and are sufficiently numerous to enable the process to be spread over 24 months. These careful measures along with temperature-controlled fermentation insure only the highest quality wine is produced.

Château Brande Bergère was selected in 2010 to become a member of the prestigious Cercle Rive Droite de Grands Vins de Bordeaux.
