Bright red ruby colour.
Intense aromas of red and black berries with sweet wild spices and a hint of violets.
A balanced wine with firm ripe tannins and a deep, fruit mid-palate. Ripe, silky tannins and bright acidity bring structure and long persistence.
Pairs well with red meats, lamb, pork and mature cheeses.
Grapes were sourced from Undurrga's Cauquences Estate Vineyard, located 20 km north-east of the town of Cauquences in the Maule Valley. This wine is an exclusive blend of ten 400 and 500 litre second use barrels, aged for 24 months in order to soft up the strong tannin structure of the wine. The blend consists in 60% Garnacha, 25% Carignan and 15% Monastrell, expressing all the character of the Cauquenes Region, through the beautiful harmony and synergy of these Mediterranean varieties. Only 316 cases produced.

"In the midst of this wine’s black fruits, cabernet franc’s fresh and vibrant herbal notes come through with clarity. Rafael Urrejola blended 15 percent merlot with the franc to bring flavor complexity and to build the smoothness of the tannins. This wine feels voluptuous, friendly and ready for spicy pork chops."

"Inky ruby. Sexy, oak-spiced aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, with suggestions of pipe tobacco and floral oils adding complexity. Fleshy and sweet on the palate, offering round blackberry and mulberry flavors and hints of mocha and succulent herbs. Shows very good breadth and energy on the persistent finish, which is framed by smooth, slow-building tannins."

"I haven't seen that much Cabernet Franc in Maipo yet, but I guess the grape can grow quickly. The blend of 2012 TH Rarities Cabernet Franc-Merlot is from Maipo, and it's an 85/15 blend from Cabernet Franc grapes grown by Stefano Gandolini on alluvial soils in a slightly cooler area, and their own Merlot. It has some herbal aromas intermixed with red berries and hints of tobacco. Despite being aged for 16 months in barrel (in used wood, only second and third use), you cannot get any toast or woody aromas, and it feels quite pure and elegant. 2012 is a warmish vintage (not as much as 2009), but the wine keeps very good freshness. It's medium-bodied with fine, abundant and grainy tannins, with a good balance between elegance and rusticity. Only 3,792 bottles were produced. Ideal with meat now, it should also age in bottle."
