Domaine La Barroche

South Rhone, France

There could not be a great wine without a great terroir nor a great terroir without a love of the vine.

Domaine la Barroche has been passed through the family from generation to generation since the 14th century. It extends over 30 acres and is made up of several parcels, all located within the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation, mainly in the North and Northeast area.

The grape varieties that are typical of the appellation can be found on the domain: Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Cinsault, Terret Noir, Clairette... The average age of the vines is 60 years old and one third of the vineyard is more than 100 years old (Grenache).

We are wedded to the respect of the vine in its environment and consider how soils, microclimate and wildlife affect it. This way of growing optimizes the natural resistance of the plant and reduces production yields to the benefit of the richness and natural concentration of the fruit. The grape harvest is completely manual. Grapes are handpicked when the fruit is at the peak of the ripeness.
