James Suckling, Aug/2018

"This is a bit too much for its own good. Big smoky nose, where rather little fruit shows, leading into a bold and tannic red with savory notes and a chewy, slightly alcoholic finish. Drink now."

"A little volatile with lots of ripe fruit and hints of wood. Blackberries, too. Full body, round tannins and a juicy finish. Potentially great with red meat. Drink now."

"Made in northwestern Spain's Castilla y Leon region, this is a chunky, big interpretation of tempranillo, with smooth, supple texture and rich flavours of plum sauce and espresso macchiato along with licorice. Ideal for roasted or grilled red meats. Accessible now, this bargain could improve with up to five years in the cellar."

Top 100 Wines of 2017 "Muscular, sumptuous, ponderous. By Juan Gil, this wine hails from within Castilla Y Leon, in Zamora (southeastern Spain)and the grapes for this Tempranillo grown in poor, sandy oils. It is a muscular and brooding style; sunbaked red fruits, toasted spices and grilled meat, iodine, leather and some undertones of dried herbs and dark cocoa. The palate is sweet and sumptuous and more expressive than its ponderous nose. Overall good balance and freshness with upright structure and ripe but chewy tannins."

Antonio Galloni's Vinous Jan/2016

2013 -

"Bright violet. Smoke-accented aromas of ripe cherry, blueberry, licorice and allspice, with a subtle mocha quality emerging slowly. Sweet, broad and smoky on the palate, offering concentrated dark berry and cherry-cola flavors and repeating smokiness. A sweet, persistent finish is firmed by smooth, late-arriving tannins that fold smoothly into the wine's plush dark fruit. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks this wine was aged in new and used French oak barrels for six months."
